End of Life Notices

As of June 30, 2021, AML Oceanographic is ending general support including service, technical support, calibration, and repair of legacy fixed-sensor instrumentation.

Fixed-sensor instrumentation refers to any instrument which has sensors integrated into the instrument body; the sensors are non-removable. These instruments are typically identified as Micro, Minos, Plus, or Smart instruments, and lack the “•X” moniker or blue collars associate with X•change™ instrumentation. The serial number is commonly 4 digits in length and the date of manufacture is typically prior to 2010.

This notice does NOT apply to X•Change™ instruments and sensors which are denoted by blue (or orange) sensor collars.

  • Micro-CTD, SV, SVP, SVTP, P, or ‘Flow’
  • Minos-SVP, CTD, SVx with fixed P, or similar
  • Plus-SV V2 and V2, CTD 12, or similar
  • Smart-SV, SVP, SVT, SV2000, or similar.

Support for these instruments will remain in effect until June 30, 2021. Users that have projects planned which require use of these instruments are encouraged to contact AML at their soonest convenience to schedule service work.

As of November 30, 2021, AML Oceanographic is ending general support including service, technical support, calibration, and repair of legacy fixed-sensor MVP instrumentation.

Fixed-sensor instrumentation refers to any instrument for use on an Moving Vessel Profiler (MVP)  which has all of its sensors integrated into the instrument body; the sensors are non-removable. These instruments typically have a 7-digit item code such as PDC-A2000, and lack the “•X” moniker or blue collars associate with X•change instrumentation. Serial numbers are commonly 4 digits in length and the date of manufacture is typically prior to 2010.

This notice does NOT apply to MVP X•Change™ instruments and sensors which are denoted by blue sensor collars.

Examples of MVP fixed-sensor instruments which are covered by this EOL include:

  • Fixed- sensor CTD for use on MVP Systems

Support for these instruments will remain in effect until November 30, 2021. Users that have projects planned which require use of these instruments are encouraged to contact AML at their soonest convenience to schedule service work.

AML is committed to ensuring MVP systems remain operational regardless of instrumentation obsolescence. Customers seeking continued support for these instruments will be offered upgrade paths with modern replacements.

If in doubt about applicability to an instrument or sensor, please contact service@AMLoceanographic.com.

On September 1, 2020 AML Oceanographic launched its new product line, referred to as X2•change (aka Orange Line). Identified by orange sensor collars, this ecosystem is the next evolution of AML’s original.  Xchange™ technology, reflecting AML’s decades of instrumentation experience and feedback from a global user base. Details of the new line may be found at https://amloceanographic.com/news/orange-is-here/ .

If you have an existing or future project and/or tender planned that specifically calls out a Blue Line (original X•change™) instrument, please contact AML Oceanographic to discuss options.
