AML-3 XC: Best of Both Worlds
The AML-3 XC is the newest model added to the X2•Series Instrumentation lineup. XC makes use of the available space on the end cap to add an Xtra Connector. As with every AML-3, this instrument can install up to three X2Change™ sensors and is available in depth ratings of 500 m and 6000 m.

It began as a custom project for customers requiring dual real-time and logging functionality on an instrument. Following this initial interest, more requests came in and returned with positive feedback. Last year, AML released the AML-3 XC as a full-fledged member of the X2•Series product line. From left to right in the image above, the XC model features a charging port, 6-pin titanium MCBH connector, and on/off switch. The bulkhead connector enables real-time serial communications and allows external power input. Next to it, the magnetic switch activates internal power for self-contained logging. The USB-C provides both battery charging and data transfer capabilities. Wireless data transfer is also enabled via WiFi connection on the 500 m version of the AML-3 XC.
About AML-3 Instruments
AML-3 instruments are multiparameter sondes designed for a variety of data collection applications. This includes vertical profiling, AUV integration, and underwater observatories to name a few. Integrated UV Biofouling protection is also an option for RT and XC 500 m models. X2change™ technology allows the user to take full control of the instrument configuration. Swapping sensors between instruments is easy since tools are not needed. Accuracy is not affected, as each sensor contains its own embedded calibration. With the ability to custom arrange instruments, users always have the right kit at the right time.
